Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a public speaker. Feminist Frequency is a website that hosts videos and posts commentary discussing the way women are represented in the media and in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist media critic from Canada, as well as a blogger. Feminist Frequency is a website for education that examines women's roles in the world of pop culture, is operated by Sarkeesian. Aiming to break down the stereotypes about women and popular culture, she is also working to raise issues related to targeted harassment against women and the other minorities of online space. A graduate in politics and sociology from York University Sarkeesian is also popular as a public speaking engagement and has given keynote speeches at TEDxWomen's Women XOXO Festival as well as at the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Attracted to issues related to gender identity and feminism from the age of 7, she started her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while being a student at the university. The determined lady had planned to launch a web series on gender representation in video games. However, she found herself the victim of an online harassment campaign. The incident did not deter her from pursuing the project, and instead reinforced her commitment to be a feminist critic of media. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards to recognize her notable contributions to the field of feministism. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for years and founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational non-profit that explores female representations of popular culture.
