Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theater from a young stage. While a student at Emory University he appeared in various productions both on and off the campus. In 1953, he joined the Air Force. While stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a play with Betty Lou Bredemus. In 1955, the couple got married and, in 1956, their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter attended Tulane University at New Orleans In 1957, the city of Louisiana where they had separated from the Air Force of the United States. In 1960 the family moved to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1964, Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on a local Saturday morning children's TV show named Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded their own. The Actors and Writers Workshop was founded in 1964 and ran for 6 years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) and Julia (also also known as Julie) in this time.
